Education

Children

We believe that faith formation is about developing an understanding of who God is and is best done when building trusting relationships with safe adults. Our children’s programming has a variety of activities that offer flexibility for families of children under 12.

Nursery: Our nursery is open most Sundays, staffed with two trained adults. Our lead attendant has completed a background check and is Pediatric CPR and First Aid certified. Both attendants complete a yearly safe sanctuary training.

Moment of Wonder: A moment near the beginning of worship where we invite children up to wonder together about God and the stories we’ll hear during our worship service. Focused for PreK-grade 5, all ages welcome.

Sunday School: 10:50-11:40 a.m. on Sundays from Sept-May. Classes offered for Prek-6th grade. All Sunday School teachers and volunteers that work with children complete yearly Safe Sanctuary training. There are always two adults when children are present.

Bible Exploration Days: Four Saturdays mornings/year, for ages 3-12. This is a time to learn about God through stories, games, art and music, lunch is provided.

WorshipArts: This is a program that intentionally gives children a chance to experience worship in ways that connect to a child’s perspective. Children ages 5-10 are welcome to experience the worship service in a prayground—a space at the front of the sanctuary with developmentally appropriate worship tools. Children are then invited to reflect on worship through discussions, art and music before starting Sunday School. Read more about WorshipArts and our prayground here.

Youth

We have an active youth fellowship for junior high (grades 6 – 8) and senior high (grades 9-12) youth. Each level has 2-3 sponsors and regular monthly activities. Each summer the senior youth have had the opportunity to participate in a service trip or Mennonite Church USA Conference. Our church also includes a budget line item to support each student attending a Mennonite college.

Adult

Our adult education program offers a choice of electives during each quarter of the year except summer. The classes are open to adult (beyond high school) members and friends. The electives are chosen by a committee, which seeks to offer classes in bible, theology, social issues, peace and justice, psychology, philosophy, spiritual growth and other relative subjects on a regular basis. The primary goal is to help adults grow in faith and ministry.
